Re: Rig Interface for Digital

Edward R Cole
Reading all the advice given, it becomes obvious that there is not
one "perfect" interface.  But, I use the simplest one:  two shielded
radio shack stereo audio cables to/from the soundcard (mine are
external to the computer) and the original USB/RS-232 adapter cable
from Elecraft.  That runs my digital sw and spectrum display programs.

I did have to add a second USB/RS-232 cable because of a unique
situation where I needed RTS/DTR to connect to a separate com-port
from the one with RXD/TXD.  This is a special control issue for eme,
which is probably of little application for the majority of readers
(I have two programs running that need dedicated com-ports):

Filters:
K3: FL1=13-KHz for FM/AM, FL2=2.8-KHz SSB, FL-3=open, FL-4=400-Hz CW, FL-5=open
KRX3: FL-2=2.8-KHz general purpose for diversity Rx

I don't live in a high RF density ham neighborhood so this is
adequate.  DSP filtering handles the main operating needs.

That works well for me, but your modes, hardware accessories, and sw
may dictate a different configuration.  Mine is always in process of
change so I expect to make ongoing reconfiguration of my station.

K3 commander issue

Jeff kb2m
In reply to this post by Wes (N7WS)

I noticed that when I switch frequency from a USB to an LSB one or visa
versa on my K3 by clicking on a spot, or a memory in memory bank 1, the K3
changes to the right mode for an instant then goes back to the mode it was
in. I tested this with my 7100 and Commander operates correctly. I just
moved my K3 to this location from my other home and there I never noticed
this problem. I also recently added an Elecraft KAT500 and KPA500 to the mix
and maybe this caused the issue? Anyway it has caused me to be in the wrong
mode on several occasions and would like to fix this. I tried to mess with
the command interval and scan dwell in the commander config to no avail.
Does anyone running the same setup have/had this problem? Anyone have a
clue? Need more info?

Re: K3 commander issue

Stan Gibbs, KR7C
Assuming that by "Commander" you mean DXLab's Commander component, I can't reproduce any problem with the mode setting running 10.6.9.

I set memory 1 to 20m USB and memory 2 to 40m LSB.  Clicking on the respective memory buttons correctly restores the frequency and mode.
