Running DX Lab on K3

I have been trying to run DX Lab on my K3, but have to disconnect the P3
Pan adaptor, do Elecraft make a double adaptor for the RS232 line, or if
I buy some RS232 -USB adaptor and plug it into a USB multi adaptor, can I
run these other applications at the same time as the Pan adaptor?

Alan,

I don't understand why you have to disconnect the P3. The P3 has a
"pass-thru" RS-232 connector. Have you tried connecting the PC to the
RS-232 connector marked PC on the P3?

If DX Lab interferes with the P3 to K3 communication, that may cause
problems, but for most applications, that connection works just fine.

Hi Don and Alan,

On my K3 and P3 to solve an initial comms problem with my software and
the P3 I set the computer to P3 speed to half that of the fixed P3 to K3
speed. Helped get rid of some glitches that actually went away later
when flrig 1.2 came out.

Elecraft also was helping debug the problem.

As Don says it is computer to P3 with one serial cable and P3 to K3 with
a second serial cable. Works fine now.

Alan,

The P3 has two marked rs232 connectors. One goes to the K3 and the other
goes to the PC. No splitter necessary.

DXLab Suite (CI-V Commander) works fine with K3 and P3. Set Commander,
the K3 and P3 *all* to 38,400 bps ... there is no problem with either
the software or hardware.

Do not try to "mix" serial speeds - that's bound to fail.

Mixing communication speeds was exactly what Elecraft said do do with
the symptoms I was having. it worked fine. Still does. But if you turn
off the P3 relays connect the lines between the two RS232 so would fail
then. Works so well have not bothered to switch the computer to P3
speeds back to 38,400 bps.
