S/N3068 Getting closer!

Tonight I finished the RF board and soldered in the three connectors for
the SSB board which is not yet assembled.  With a signal generator, all
the slug tuned transformers and the six trimmers have been touched up.

Great to hear some real live SSB and CW signals on 80 m.

However, I am puzzled by a rapid fire switching from VFO to menu and
back again - several times per second.  May be a fault on the front
panel display board.  I have another, so will try that tomorrow after a
good sleep.

Thanks to Gary and the people on this reflector who have offered good
advice and invaluable encouragement.

Kevin,

I believe you will find the problem on the Control Board rather than the
Front Panel.  The Front Panel only displays what the microprocessor on
the Control Board tells it.

If you have another K2, you can quickly determine if the control board
is at fault by temporarily swapping them.

Hi Don,
Well as it transpired, I could not go to bed without swapping front
panel display boards.  The replacement board provides a rock solid
display - no spurious flicking into Menu mode and back again.  So it
into the display board with a microscope to examine systematically every
soldered joint!

Many thanks for your advice.  Will keep the group posted.
