S9DX and other dxpedition tips

CX7TT
Like others, I have used DX summit web site special 'search' tab to
input the dx and see what bands they are on at the present time. This
works best when sitting on the couch waiting for them to show on a
certain band. You will have to hit 'search' again to refresh every so often.

For those who are struggling, even if you have not worked them, go to
their online log, input your call, you wont be there but it will show
your zone. Click on the propagation to that zone and get a pretty good
idea what have been the best times to work them on diff bands. Of
course, in the US, the zones are pretty big but it's a good guide as to
propagation for your area.

Finally, listen, listen to try to discern their operating pattern. I
dont have a P3 (yet) but have found the sub RX to be invaluable.

Best of luck

Plus this is an all K3 Dxpedition, so they should have good ears :-)

It certainly is a shame to go to such a rare place, with the convenient
capabilities of the K3, and not even trying to get on 6m JT65A mode during their
moonset :-(  And next week even has best days of the month for 6m EME!  We on 6m
EME are very disappointed, and are hoping that this is an exception rather than
the rule...true you won't work 10,000 station on 6m EME, but you WILL work 1/2
million miles with every contact.

It will be interesting to see if they think the AGC THR should be
increased a bit.

Hi Tony,

Yes, I know....that is probably why most of the HF DXpeditions over the last
number of years have not had any success on 6m :-(  I made 26,000,000 miles's
worth of contacts on 6m on my last DXpedition to the South Pacific last fall.  Of
course, I used my K3 and 6m was not an "afterthought" and I certainly encouraged
people to watch for my CQ's.  By comparison, my approach was certainly not "Please
don't pester us with questions for tries on 6m." ;-)

Thank goodness there are SOME HFers interested in working 6m ;-)  I worked the
first 6m station from PJ2 a couple weeks ago when PJ2/W8WTS got on JT65A mode
during his moonset with a 5 element yagi and 300w.

Looking forward to some more new DXCC on 6m this spring ;-)  Up to 164 now and
have been adding a new DXCC every month for the last several years.  Thanks to all
those who have shown an interest in demonstrating what CAN be done on that band!

Re: S9DX and other dxpedition tips

Doug Faunt N6TQS +1-510-655-8604
6M antennas that are adequate for EME are a problem.  It's a lot of work
and transportation problems for a few contacts, even fewer than 160M.
