Me again.
I want to thank all of you who took the time to help me. I really do appreciate it. I learned a lot in the process. The cause was being too cheap with the VOX gain; it's way up there now. For whatever reason, I never had to adjust the VOX setting on my FT-890. Have a great weekend! 73 Don NA6Z -----Original Message----- >From: Don Putnick <[hidden email]> >Sent: Jun 9, 2011 10:03 AM >To: [hidden email] >Subject: [K3] Need help with soundcard digital mode transmit (retry) > >Hi all, > >I'm the proud new papa of Elecraft K3 #5495. I've been able to receive PSK31 via both the rear line-out and the rear speaker jacks. The line-out jack appears to be at a fixed level, which is a little low, but the rear speaker jack with volume control works just fine (that's the approach I used on my Yaesu FT-890). > >The problem is I can't get my MacBook to work with the VOX. I've tried the rear line-in and the rear mic jacks, VOX Gain and LOW/HI MIC gain, all in DATA A. Haven't tried USB mode though. And yes, the MacBook is putting out a PSK31 signal. > >I'd really appreciate any helpful hints. >Thanks and 73, Don NA6Z > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
No problem Don. Always glad to help. Enjoy the digital modes.

No, I didn't adjust the VOX gain. I didn't have to on the 890, so it didn't occur to me. I used a mono audio cable with a stereo to mono plug adapter at the sound card end. I used the Patch In audio connector on the rear of the 890. My sound card volume was set to 25%. I turned up the 890's Mic Gain very slowly because the setting was low and very sensitive; power out jumped quickly from nothing to desired setting. Of course, the VOX button was on. >>>>> >>>>> The receive paths for sound card mode using LINE OUT and SPEAKER OUT work just fine. Just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I pulled out the Heil headset and tried USB. Easy. By the way, no sound is making its way from the K3 monitor. The way the mailing list makes it sound easy: VOX ON, DATA A, LINE IN, sound card output to LINE IN, adjust MIC GAIN. >>>>> >>>>> I'd really appreciate any advice you have to offer. I'm becoming more than a bit frustrated. Otherwise this is one great radio!
