I found the problem with the SSB adapter. I installed the comparator
backwards. I never do that! I have a new one coming from Elecraft.
I have an Alinco mike off of a two meter rig. I have used the Alinco mikes
wired for Kenwood in the past on other rigs and also on the K2 that I had. I
have also made up a PSK31 cable for it. I have been able to get output from
the SSB portion via the PSK cable but not the mike. I have not got the 5
volts jumpered for the mike and I am not sure that it is needed. The mike
does have a touch tone pad on it, but not sure that it has a pre-amp for the
mike portion. If I take an audio source from the PC and feed it via jumpers
to the pin 1 and pin 5 (audio and ground) to the mike plug, the radio will
transmit voice. I also made the PSK cable using a 1:1 audio transformer on
the audio out/mike in and can make PSK contacts no problem. The PSK transmit
audio sounds very clean.
So, think I should hook up the 5 volts to the mike and see what I get?
