SVGA worked for a while...

Got the P3SVGA in and running today. The resolution on my 8-year old
Samsung LCD monitor was lousy, though, so I picked up a new Dell SR2220L
that really looks great at the 1920X1080 resolution out of the P3. It
auto-adjusts and fills the screen just right.

Sadly, when I tried the Fixed Mode tuning of the K3 and changed bands,
everything fell apart with no spectrum display and all sorts of messed up
displays on both the internal and external monitors! Tried a reload of
Ver. 1.13 firmware and it took three tries until checksum and version
report were correct.

However, I still have no spectrum, a nice pink waterfall area on the
internal LCD with a left arrow cursor and no meaningful SPAN function or
readouts (-1.-1 on both sides). Only thing that works is center frequency
tracks the K3 on both displays. I've been in touch with Gary Surrency
about the poor resolution on my old monitor before the failure, but now
it's the weekend.

Anyone have any prior experience, and how do I load an earlier version with
the Mac P3 utility? (sigh...)

You should be able put the P3 firmware version you want installed into a
file folder by itself, and then navigate to that folder with the P3 Utility
and send it to the P3. The P3 Utility should display the highest version
numbered firmware file in the folder it's pointed to. You need to arrange
for that highest version # to be the one you want to install.

Hi Roger,

I doubt this has anything to do with the firmware version. My first
guess would be a problem with the RS-232 connection between the K3 and
P3, but the fact that the center frequency readout is correct implies
that the RS-232 must be working. It could still be intermittent I
suppose.

I would make sure that both RS-232 connections are tight and then cycle
power on both the K3 and P3 and see if that doesn't fix it.
