Sal ammoniac seems to rather innocuous...Not only is it commonly used in solder flux, dry cell electrolyte and fertilizer, it is used in Vodka as flavor enhancer, in cough medicine as an expectorant, and in the manufacture of candy...It is also used in plywood glue, in shampoo, and as a media for growing yeast...I hardly think it will harm circuit boards if it is used to tin a soldering iron tip...Besides, I have been using it for 60 years and have not seen any bad things happen...

I do not recall Elecraft's policy on sal ammoniac, but I'd check with them
before using a soldering iron tip cleaned with sal ammoniac on Elecraft
products<
