I will be getting some new screwdrivers to assemble my K3 kit, but I
need to know which type of Phillips Head Screwdiver to buy. Are the US made or Japanese made ? Hello Dick,
Take a look at the OPENTIP.com web site for a PICQUIC multique 7 bit screwdriver $9.41. That should do it. Dick,
They are the US type. A regular #1 Phillips is what you need. I insert and remove a LOT of screws with my Elecraft repair work, and I find the Ace Hardware 'Pro' series are very good (blue handles). I replace mine every 3 to 4 months, but that is because I use it so much, that is not normal for the average builder, all I am trying to communicate is that they fit the screwhead well, and do not exhibit extreme wear - plus they come in the 6 inch shaft length that I am used to. 73, Don W3FPR On 1/21/2014 4:13 PM, Richard Solomon wrote: > I will be getting some new screwdrivers to assemble my K3 kit, but I > need to > know which type of Phillips Head Screwdiver to buy. > > Are the US made or Japanese made ? > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Dick,
The absolute best screwdrivers are made by Wiha. For a #1 Phillips look at Item 3110 at this link: http://www.wihatools.com/300seri/311serie.htm. Or splurge a bit and buy one of their many sets. Also look at the "precision" series which are made for more delicate work. Also available on Amazon. 73, Steve AA6VO On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, Don Wilhelm <[hidden email]> wrote: > Dick, > > They are the US type. I agree 100%, Wiha is the way to go. The fit to the fastener is
excellent, they are comfortable to use, and they hold up very well. You can also look at their ESD static dissipative handles. http://www.wihatools.com/300seri/311_ESDserie.htm Amazon has decent prices on the sets. Also, Wiha frequently runs specials on many of these. 73, Josh W6XU On 1/21/2014 2:36 PM, Steve Baum wrote: > Dick, > > The absolute best screwdrivers are made by Wiha.
