Hi,
This is a bit off topic, but there must be some computer whizzes out there. I have ARRL AView to read QST, QEX etc. and when I look at a full page, the print is so small and distorted I can't read it. When you look at a half page you just can see the top half of the page and you can't scroll down. I tried screen resolution of 1024 X 760 and 800 X 600 but no change. I had another program that I could only see the top half too, and their tech support told me how to use Internet Explorer to start the program to use IE to scroll up and down. That was on Win98. I tried that on WinXP and it doesn't work or else I'm not setting it up correctly; probably the latter. Can any one help? I called ARRL, but probably didn't get the right person as they didn't know anything about it. Tnx for you time, 73, Chas, W1CG _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. Chas,
The QST View images are .TIF files, so whatever program you have on your computer that is associated with TIF files is the one that will be used. You can change the associatiation from Windows Explorer - click Tools, select Folder Options, and in the box that opens, select the File Types tab. This will show the list of file associations - scroll down to TIF and select it, and if you want to change the association, look at the bottom of the box "Details for 'TIF' extension" If you want to set it to IE, click the change button and use the resulting resulting dialog box to select whichever program you want to use. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > This is a bit off topic, but there must be some computer whizzes out > there. Hi Chas,
That AView program has bugged me for some time and I had hoped you would have got some good replies to your question. It is a rather crude program but we have to remember it is probably at least 10 years old. I am using Windows XP and I find AView screws up the colours on other open windows. I think the program was dragged "kicking and screaming" from the DOS world into the wonders of Windows. You can get all the information but it is certainly not user friendly. Its search engine is a real pain. When you have the top half in view you have to drag the page (hold down left mouse button) to position the lower half into the window for reading. I hope one of the programming experts on this list comes to our rescue. 73, Tony Fegan VE3QF Charles Greene wrote: > Hi, > > This is a bit off topic, but there must be some computer whizzes out > there.
