Hi All!
I'm a new K3 owner (#0251) as of last Friday. I have successfully obtained and learned how to use most of the features in: K3 Utility software K3_EZ software Using K3 Utility, I checked for latest versions of all firmware, and successfully loaded to the K3. My K3 has the following filters, installed in the correct positions and correctly listed on the crystal filter section of the K3 Utility software. 13kHz 6kHz 2.8kHz 2.1kHz 1.0kHz I have both a C3 and D9 version of the owners manual, and have not yet found the answer to my question in either of them. When in CW mode, the K3 defaults to the FL5 (1.0kHz) filter, and sets the BW to 400Hz. I was wondering if or where that default BW setting could be altered? I know the BW can be changed with the WIDTH knob. --Scott, W5WZ ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
The CW width is always the setting it was on when I turned off the radio.
It never resets. The 400 Hz is there so there is something in the slot the first time the radio is used. It is saved by band, so you will run into it first time on a band. Just set it where you want it. It will keep it. If you hit XFIL button to change bandwidths, it will use the bandwidth you stored with the K3 config utility, or stored using the CONFIG menu entries for that filter. Utility is a lot easier to set up filters. What did you put in the bandwidth for filter 5 entry on the K3 Utility configuration tab, configure crystal filters button? 73, Guy. Scott,
There are several combinations available to you, If you set the width manually, and power off and then on, the width setting will be remembered. There is also the I and II settings which are "floating settings" that can be used as well as the NORM (400 Hz) and the Norm1 and Norm2 settings that can be almost anything you wish. These settings are available from the K3 front panel. I am not sure about the availability of them from any particular computer application. All these settings are possible through computer control (see the K3 Programmer's Reference), but not all may be implemented in a particular piece of software. 73, Don W3FPR On 1/19/2011 10:48 PM, Scott Dickson, W5WZ wrote: > Hi All! > > I'm a new K3 owner (#0251) as of last Friday.
