Does anyone have tips on running the SignaLink USB (not the SL-1+) with
a K2? It seems from the Tigertronics site that the 8-pin round mic connector is used between the radio and the SignaLink. http://www.tigertronics.com/sl_wirebm.htm#Elecraft But, I thought that the reason folks installed the fixed audio output mod (detailed on W3FPR's web pages) was to improve PSK and other digital modes. If someone could offer some clarification on this I would greatly appreciate it (especially those who are using the SignaLink USB with a K2). Thanks. -john W4PAH _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. John,
That is right.....the output of the SignaLink USD goes from the RJ45 to the Mic input. But, you have to add one more cable....the audio from the K2 to the SignaLink USB. So, what you do is come out of the RJ45 with Transmitt Audio and the PTT line. Then use a seperate cable for the audio input from the K2. You will need to use the Mic connector ... at least I did not mine ... because I had no other means of feeding audio to the K2. You have to wire the Mic as your K2 is wired which could be anything...depending on the builder. Lee In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply. If you don't have any Common Sense - get some Common Sense and use it. If you can't find any Common Sense, ask for help from somebody who has some Common Sense. Is Common Sense divine? _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. ...and the audio input cable you mention is from the fixed audio output
mod featured on Don's page does, right? I'm still working on my K2 but I wanted to make sure I knew that the fixed audio output mod was required for use with the SignaLink USB before I started drilling holes in my case. ;) Thanks. -john W4PAH Lee Buller wrote: > John, > > That is right.....the output of the SignaLink USD goes from the RJ45 to > the Mic input. You can use the headphone jack instead. 73, Lyle KK7P _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. John,
My fixed audio output is just what it says - it provides a level of audio OUTPUT from the K2 independent of the setting of the AF gain control. It does nothing for the audio INPUT. The input (to the mic jack) is what is depicted on the Tigertronics website. Note that the mic wiring shown assumes that you have configured your K2 to use the Elecraft (or Kenwood) microphone pinout. If you are using a microphone that is wired for anything other than Elecraft or Kenwood, you will have to alter the wiring of the SignalLink to match your mic wiring. 73, Don W3FPR John Shadle wrote: > Does anyone have tips on running the SignaLink USB (not the SL-1+) > with a K2?
