Small external monitor for P3?

nz8j
Has anyone found or using a small monitor to use with a P3/SVGA? I have limited space but would like to use the features of the SVGA adapter on a screen a little bigger than the P3. I've seen some small ones on various online outlets, but they are either VGA resolution, or use a USB connection.

I'm not real familiar with what might or might not work or what I need for what I'm trying to do, that's why I'm asking here. It would have to be no more than 10 or 11 inches high but could be a little wider than that.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Don't hesitate to accept 1024x768 -- it works quite well with the P3.
I'm using two such monitors, partly for size and partly because I got
them free as cast-offs from other hams.

Tim,

I have a space problem similar to yours.  I found some used 15"
(diagonal measurement) computer monitors that are only 11", or a bit
less, high, if you remove their stand.  I figure that my eyes are
still young enough, so that size screen is large enough, if its
directly in front of me and above the K3/P3SVGA.

Some 15" monitors have larger enclosure borders than others, that
make them higher.  I've "collected" several of this size for $5 to
$15 from swap meets, computer store sales and Salvation Army stores,
or similar outlets.

That works for me too. I like to have the display directly above the K3,
and at that viewing distance a 15" monitor is plenty big enough to
display the enhanced detail of the SVGA. A push-button VGA switch allows
the smaller monitor to double as either the display for the P3 or an
occasional extension of the main PC display.

To keep the 15" display in the same field of view as the K3 itself, I
removed the monitor stand and fitted two stick-on rubber feet so the
monitor could sit directly on top of the K3. Velcro pads hold the
monitor upright against the edge of a convenient shelf.

Or from friendly sysops who have upgraded their end users to larger
screens but (quite rightly) can't bear to throw away perfectly
functional hardware.
