Solar panel controller

JEAN-FRANCOIS MENARD-3
I finally received my solar panel controller kit from Don KD5NDB.

A marvelous small kit !!! If you need a excellent solution for your
solar panel and you wish to use it while you are operating your
favorite rig... KX1, K1, K2, etc... This controller is for you!

I put a few pics about this kit, for people who would like to see it.

I'm using solar panels from ICP Global. I choose the "flex" version,
more expensive, but lighter and more robust. Take a look at the
PowerFlex 20 at :

http://www.icpsolar.com/ssfamille.php3?id_rubrique=11

I have a 20W solar power panel that deliver 1.25A with 100% sunny.
You could also connect more panels with "ready to connect" cable that
come with the panel. I also have a 5W... so I have 25W or 1.5A on a
100% sunny day. No too bad when QRP.

No real reason. I only want to make sure that no RF will come out or
in, or to protect from external source of RF leakage.... I think I'm
paranoiac about RF loss... ;-)

I'm using MacLoggerDX from DogPark Software... www.dogparksoftware.com
Also CocoaModem for digital mode from http://homepage.mac.com/chen/

Solar Panel Setup

Matt and Kelly
In reply to this post by JEAN-FRANCOIS MENARD-3
I guess I'm still a bit confused.  I've read many, many
posts about solar panels and charging circuits, but I have
not been pointed to a specific setup yet.  I want to get 1
or 2 7ah gel cell batteries, (the type typically come from
fire escape lighting systems, for example), and I want to
be able to charge them with a small, portable solar panel.
Plug and charge.  One battery would power the radio while
the other one is charging.

Can someone point me in the direction I need to go (web
site, product names, part numbers, etc.)?  This needs to
be a plug and play set up... panel, controller, cables...
the works.

Thanks for your help.

Solar panel controller... in an enclosure...

JEAN-FRANCOIS MENARD-3
In reply to this post by JEAN-FRANCOIS MENARD-3
I finally put the controller in an external enclosure. I also add a
switch to shutoff the solar panel power, just in case... I look nice,
and I also used good quality connectors to connect to my solar panel
and my K2. If you want to look at it...
