I must be doing something wrong. Have my BFO settings exactly as
specified in the K2 manual on CW. Using the noise gen from Elecraft. However, during the BFO settings per the K2 manual, FL2-FL4 at the BFO settings they specify results in almost no audio coming from the speaker using the N-gen. Then, when I go to spectrogram, my entire curve for FL1 is to the right of 600Hz on this display and no matter what I do with the vfo knob, there is no shifting of the curve to speak of and just changes in amplitude. On FL2-FL4, there is no amplitude at all but I can then adjust the VFO and see/hear the Ngen signals coming thru but the entire curve is still to the right of 600Hz. Running spectrogram off the headphone jack to my sound card. During operation, my CW mode audio level is considerably below the LSB or USB level and my receive CW signals seem to turn to clicks at audio freq below 800Hz or so.....what have I missed? Dan!
Pick one filter and start playing with the bfo setting in cal fil. Note the change on spectrogram. Also change to speaker out on rear of the rig and adjust AF to suitable setting. The speaker output will give you full range on audiospectre. If you move bfo and it move wrong way? Simply move it the other way. But first you must decide what pitch you want on cw and begin from there. Pick fl2 and decide bandwith. Put markers in spectrogram. If you want 700bw on fl2 and pitch 600hz you put one marker 350hz below and one marker 350hz higher than 600hz on spectrogram. Now you adjust bfo until bandnoice is sentered within the two markers. Repeat with other modes and filters. Don't forget CW-r and RTTY-r. I think this will do it for you. Have a nice weekend Dan. Dan,
The BFO settings in the manual are only a starting point. You have to refine them for your particular K2. Since you already have the N-gen and Spectrogram, you have all the tools you need for the task. For detailed instructions on setting your filter/BFOs, look at my website www.qsl.net/w3fpr article on K2 Dial Calibration - the CAL PLL procedures are detailed in Step 3 of that article. Links are provided for additional information if you need it. 73, Don W3FPR ----- Original Message ----- I must be doing something wrong.
