I remember having the same problem when I worked as a technician in a
two-way radio repair shop in the 1970's.
Some Motorola microphone cables were made with tinsel wire and required
an IDC (insulation displacement crimp) connector lug. It was a small
solder lug with teeth on one end that bit through the insulation when
crimped over the wire. Motorola had a parts kit available. I am not
sure if anything like this is still available. You may try stripping the
tinsel wire a use a common small crimp on wire terminal to make a
connection.
