Back around the time I got my K3 (serial number #3799) there were several other K3 owners who had problems (like shorted audio circuit or something like that) when they put a mono 3.5 mm plug into the stereo rear panel phones outlet.
I remember the warning: use stereo only for rear panel phones. Was this ever changed so that you can now (accidentally maybe) plug a mono into the stereo and everything would be fine (accept for losing the stereo channels in your ears). I have not done this but the question was raised when I was chatting with a new K3 owner. 73, phil, K7PEH ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

The headphone jack is not the issue, it was the SPEAKER jack.
Different amplifiers. I haven't seen a mono plug on a headphones set in a long time. ....bill nr4c On Sun, 26 Feb 2012 08:42:32 -0800, Phil Hystad wrote: > Back around the time I got my K3 (serial number #3799) there were > several other K3 owners who had problems (like shorted audio circuit > or something like that) when they put a mono 3.5 mm plug into the > stereo rear panel phones outlet. > > I remember the warning: use stereo only for rear panel phones. > > Was this ever changed so that you can now (accidentally maybe) plug a > mono into the stereo and everything would be fine (accept for losing > the stereo channels in your ears). > > I have not done this but the question was raised when I was chatting > with a new K3 owner. > > 73, phil, K7PEH > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
