Hi Gang:
I think I am experiencing an issue with the sub receiver on my K3. On all bands but 10M I can set the A VFO and B VFO to the same frequency and hear good audio on A and B VFOs. Even with a strong signal, on 10 M I *sometimes do not hear the signal* (Typically SSB) on VFO B. On all but 10 M I can hear VFO A in my left ear and VFO B in my right ear. Am I dealing with a setting, or perhaps a broken? Suggestions please. -- Dave K3FT * * ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Dave,
This is most likely a difference of antennas between A&B receivers. I had the same problem at first too, with this K3. Maybe your sub RX antenna doesn't work so well on 10m? Swap antennas between A&B, then see what happens on 10m. The sub RX audio should take the place of main RX if it's a problem with the sub's antenna only on 10m. 73, matt W6NIA On Sun, 30 Sep 2012 20:58:24 -0400, you wrote: >Hi Gang: > >I think I am experiencing an issue with the sub receiver on my K3. Check lo/hi bandwidth setting of vfo B on 10m band. Probably you have a
very narrow setting on vfo B for this band Edu yy4gmj On Sep 30, 2012 8:52 PM, "Dave Weiss" <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi Gang: > > I think I am experiencing an issue with the sub receiver on my K3. Hi Dave,
First you have to be really sure which antenna is being used on 10 meters. Lets say you are using your main antenna for the sub RX on all bands. Just one small errant button push could accidentally change the antenna selection on 10 meters only. This selection is saved on a per band basis so it will stay that way forever unless you correct it. Other things are saved as well. For example you are probably using your preamp for 10 meters on the main RX. Press the bset button and verify that you are also using it for 10 meters. Generally it's a good idea to push the A/B button twice when using the sub RX. This forces all sorts of parameters to be identical to the main RX. If you are using your main antenna for both receivers and you accidentally engage diversity reception I'm pretty sure the K3 tells the sub RX to use the AUX antenna (since separate antennas are mandatory for diversity). Look at the upper display and make sure the second decimal point is not blinking. (The blinking decimal point is the only way we know we are in diversity). 73, Mike K2MK
