Sub RX upgrade

N1IRB
I am getting ready to add the second RX to my K3. I notice that the order page says that only one AM and FM filter is required in my radio for the TX side. So my question is when using the divirsity mode to listen to say a shortwave station I don't need an AM filter on the subRX? My second question is do I need the gen coverage module for said scenario if outside of the ham bands?

Thanks for any help

Scott,

Yes, you would want the same filters in the second RX as are in the main RX, particularly if you're going to use diversity mode. You will need the general coverage module as well for use outside the ham bands.

Well, it seems to me that while you only need one FM or AM to
transmit, if you want to hear AM and FM in diversity mode, you will
have to have matching filters for both receivers. And if stations
outside the ham bands are desired, you will need the wide-band module
as well on the sub-receiver.

I'm looking at the same thing as I have now filled all the 'holes' in
my K3 and am drooling over the sub-receiver. I'm gonna have to buy
three additional filters plus the 5>8swap at purchase. But I will draw
the line at the wide coverage and 6kHz filter. I think I can live
without them being duplicated.

Scott,

Yes and Yes.  If you are going to use the sub RX for AM receive then you
should have the 6Khz AM filter.  If outside the ham bands you should also
have the KBPF3 for the sub rx.
