Successful KAF2 Installation

John W2XS
I just finished the installation of the KAF2 audio filter into K2 S/N 1116.
I had purchased the K2 last year used and already built. I also upgraded the
firmware from rev 1.04d to rev 2.04.

All went smoothly, although I did lose the sidetone and it wasn't due to
selecting the wrong source as in a previous post.  Based on a suggestion by
Ron AC7AC I re-seated the U6 chip in the socket and that seemed to work OK.
(Thank you for your very fast support, Ron).

I chose the KAF2 over the DSP filter since I operate primarily CW and still
want to keep the receive current as low as possible.  I am very happy with
the performance of the filter. The clock is nice too!

One additional note.  On page 12 of the KAF2 manual there is a reference to
a filter design book by Art Williams.  I am privileged to be working with
Art right now in the design of filter-based DSL modem testing products. He
will be releasing the latest version of his book very shortly.

Since the subliminal message keeps flashing "buy more Elecraft stuff for the
K2" I will have to think about what option to get next.
