I am trying to switch my KAT3 to AUTO or BYP with PF keys. I want to make M1 set the power to 70W and KAT3 to BYP when using the amp and M2 set power to 100W and KAT3 to AUTO when barefoot.
I looked at the programmers guide but did not discover a way to do this. The power part was easy. 73, -Robby VY2SS |
Hi, Robby. I do it in the K3 Utility (for Tx Gain calibration) with the
Menu Select (MN) and Menu Parameter (MP) commands. To put the KAT3 into bypass: MN055;MP001;MN255; I don't have a K3 with me (I'm in a hotel room, traveling), but I can tell you how to determine the MP value to use to put the KPA3 back to its "PA nor" state: Using the K3 Utility's command tester, enter "MN055;" and observe the K3's LCD display. It should open the KPA3 menu item. Then enter "MP000;" in the command tester. The K3's LCD display should say "not installed". Then enter "MP001;" in the command tester. The K3's LCD display should say "bypassed". Keep entering increasing values of MP00x; and you should eventually get to the MP value that is "Pa Nor", which is the one you want for "not bypassed". Or you can rotate the VFO A dial to run through the KPA3 menu items, seet it on the one you want, and enter "MP;" in the command tester, and the K3 will respond with the MPxxx; that corresponds to the current menu selection. MN255; closes the menu and returns to normal VFO A frequency display. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Robby.VY2SS Sent: Monday, April 09, 2012 8:36 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] Switch KAT3 on and off via MACRO Button I am trying to switch my KAT3 to AUTO or BYP with PF keys. Hi Robby,
I don't have a KAT3, so can't test this, but there's a hint in the Programmer's Reference that there may be a "ATU MD" menu item (not sure if MAIN or CONFIG) that can be manipulated with the MN/MP commands. Could you check if such a menu item exists, and if it appears to provide the options that you need? "3. The following menu parameters are directly accessible via MP: MSG RPT, LIN OUT, TUN PWR, AFX MD, RPT OFS, ATU MD, VCO MD, AGC THR. The menu entry must first be selected using MN. All MP-accessible parameters are noted with ‡ in the MN table." ... except "ATU MD" is not mentioned in the MN table, nor in the Owner's Manual or firmware release notes, as far as I can see..... If it does exist, you'll need a number for it, to be able to use the MN command. Maybe Wayne can enlighten... Actually, as I'm about to hit "Send", Dick may have answered the question ... but it seems it really needs to be documented... 73, ~iain / N6ML On Mon, Apr 9, 2012 at 11:36 AM, Robby.VY2SS <[hidden email]> wrote: > I am trying to switch my KAT3 to AUTO or BYP with PF keys. ok Dick,
But that is for the PA not the tuner. How do I control the KAT3? -Robby |
I'm sorry! MN023; is the KAT3.
Check also the K3/ KX3 programmer's reference, too, it's the MN command. Sorry. I answered Dick off line. here is the solution for those who are interested. -------------- Dick, Got it! MN023;MP001;MN255 for BYP and MN023;MP002;MN255 for AUTO Thanks Dick. Now that I know how to do that, there are many more commands to play with. Can you chain these commands or do you have to put MN255 after each one? -Robby VY2SS |
