The preliminary T1 owner's manual (on our web site) says that the tuner
can match an 8-foot whip down to 10 MHz. Make that 7 MHz. I just
completed more rigorous testing, and was able to tune to close to 1.0:1
on 40-6 meters with a standard 102" (8' 6") whip. On 160 and 80 meters,
a loading coil would be required (a good idea in any case if you wanted
decent transmit efficiency).
It will tune the whip on 2 meters as well, which could be useful in an
emergency.
