T1 and XV50

Harvey Howell
Does anyone know if the Elecraft T1 tuner would be a good tuner to use with the Elecraft XV50 transverter? Since I have a K2/100 and a T1 and have never been on 6 meters I am thinking about giving it a try.

Hi Harvey,

The T1 should certainly work with the XV50. In the T1 manual we mention
a reduced tuning range on 6 meters; this is a necessary compromise to
allow the T1 to be used on the lower HF bands. Losses may be somewhat
higher on this band, depending on the reactances involved. You should
use low power when tuning up the antenna, and be sure to keep power
down to 20 W SSB/CW and 10 W AM/FM during normal operation.
