Beset with antenna restrictions I am presently constructing a cosy little kennel to house my T1 at the base of a 20 foot flagpole and I would like to feed some DC on the coax to actuate a relay to remotely initiate the tuning process.
My question relates to the necessary isolating capacitors --- whilst I am currently qrp I would like to provide for 100W capability --- now, if my calculations are correct, to get below 1 ohm reactance at 1.8 MHz requires a capacitor around 0.1ufd and to support 100W operation in a matched condition (50 ohm line) a voltage rating around 70V and current 1.414A --- the question is:- Where do I find such a non-inductive capacitor or rather two of 'em? Found a couple of old large micas (Cornell-Dubilier) in the junk box which I think last saw service in WW2, I am sure they would rate well but the highest capacity was only .005ufd. Bill,
There was an article in QST July 2004 called "Remote DC Power through your coax" by Phil Salas, AD5X that may be of use. I'm sure someone here who has the annual QST cd, will oblige in due course, if you're interested. 73 Trevor G0KTN _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Just visit Phil's great pages @ http://www.ad5x.com and you'll find that article and much more... Thank you Phil for making your stuff available for us! 73 de Joe, IW7ECJ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
