TX7M using 4 x K3s

Edward R Cole
Worked them at 1845 yesterday on 28.497 running 8w on my K3/10+Hygain
tribander (S9 here and got 59 report).  I haven't heard 10m this open
since the late 1950's - enjoy!

Re: TX7M using 4 x K3s

ab2tc
Hi,

Grrr! I have heard him with good signals for several days but paid no attention because HRD shows him as "France". I was wondering why he had such a pileup.  Lesson learned, always google call signs that have a lot of attention. Right now  he is on 28495 simplex, but in the noise with no chance of raising him. Tried though. It seems like the party on 10m is at least having a lull - it was fun while it lasted.

Knut, I don't know much about HRD, but it sounds as if you need to update
your CTY.DAT file. Go to
http://www.country-files.com/cty/

and there you'll find the country data files up to the minute, along with
installation instructions for many logging programs.

Seems to be French call sign with an amateur in Russia as the holder for the DX expedition.  I think the location is French Polynesia in south Pacific in Marquesas Islands.

Re: TX7M using 4 x K3s

Hello again,

No doubt about French Polynesia as the country. Wonder why they don't use the FO prefix as is supposed to be for French Polynesia. Call prefixes are a mess these days. 10m may be alive still. Aussie VK4MA coming through here nice and strong (K3 S6 on dipole). Maybe the party will continue. Really looking forward to the contest this weekend. Biggest sports event in the world they say.

w0mu
Marquesas Islands is a separate DXCC entity.  The French callsigns have
been a mess since I have been a ham 1978.

Because they are in the Marquesa Islands. Google TX7M. You'll be sent to:
http://www.tx7m.com/

So far their on-line log reports 61,000 QSOs. The Marquesas is a new one for
many hams, and even after a week of 24/7 operations on several bands at
once, there are still modest pileups.

To update your CTY.DAT file so that you don't get incorrect country info, go
to:
http://www.country-files.com/cty/
