Wow....thanls to all who responded to my request for information on battery
operation/power supply for the K3....I'm still wading through the answers. If I operate from a battery, can I use one of the "smart" chargers to keep the battery charged when the rig is off and connected to the battery, or should I disconnect it when charging? This is all temporary, as I have the rig in a temporary location. thanks k3hrn Thom _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I have a little 500ma/250ma smart charger that's connected to my K2 (with
its internal battery) all the time. It provides power to the battery (or the battery + K2's current requirement) whenever needed. I believe you can just leave it on all the time. Thanks....I noticed that mine, a schumacher smart charger, is real noisy...so I can't leave it on all the time.... Didn't have an operational rig when I bought it from Walmart...and I think it's an old model. Hi Thom,
Well no K3 here but I did that for a long time with a Gel cell and a "Battery Tender" on a 2 meter rig. Just left it always connected and on. The Battery Tender is very popular in the motorcycle world. Check here: http://batterytender.com/ The prices are widely discounted from the MSRP on that site. 73, Bob K2TK Thom LaCosta wrote: > > > If I operate from a battery, can I use one of the "smart" chargers to > keep the battery charged when the rig is off and connected to the > battery, or should I disconnect it when charging? > > This is all temporary, as I have the rig in a temporary location. > > thanks > > k3hrn > Thom _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
