The K2 at Field Day

Vic K2VCO
We operated 1A battery class at FD. Unfortunately our secret location at 8500 feet was
snowed in, so we had to operate from an alternate spot that was far inferior.

But my QRP K2 no. 709 cranked out the CW QSOs all weekend without a hitch, while drawing
minimal current from the battery. Operators unfamiliar with the K2 quickly became
competent with it. The clean audio and easy-to-listen-to sidetone reduced operator
fatigue, and the filter was more than adequate for the job.

I love my K3, but there is absolutely no better weapon for 1A battery class than the K2.

130 CW Q's and never missed a lick. Even closed up shop after 11:00 PM on Saturday evening and opened up again about 8:00 AM on Sunday.

WB5LVI was QRO with about 80 watts. We had a grand time.
