The KAT's in the house

dpopski
I'm happy to report that the big brown truck rolled in late this evening
and delivered serial no 22 of the factory wired KAT500. Finally the
KAT's in the house. The packaging was great. Well packed, and UPS
handled it very well. The unit looks great. The manual that shipped with
the unit obviously is not the final production manual as it says on page
one "cover image TBD" and "draft XB October 11,2012. Certainly not a
show stopper as I'm sure Elecraft will be sending final production
manuals to early adopters when they are ready and available.
The only disappointment at this time is that Elecraft didn't address the
one thing I ask them about at Dayton. To look into putting the wire bail
on the bottom like the KPA500, so you could have the KPA500 on top of
the KAT500 and elevate the package. Maybe they did look into and the
real estate just wasn't available to accomplish it, but it sure would
have been nice.
At any rate I will be re-configuring the shack over the weekend to get
the KAT500 to start littering some RF and do some evaluation on
performance on my antennas, which cover 160 mtr inverted V, 160-10mtr
vertical, 80-10mtr delta loop and 20-10mtr TH7Dxx beam. Sorry for you
6mtr guys but I don't have anything on 6.

David,

Have you tried your delta loop on 6m?  Even though the 6m pattern might
resemble a hedgehog, depending upon where the delta's feeder is attached, it
should be useful.
