JI'm posting just in case someone else has this problem.
I added more bonding to my station and put a lug under the IF In BNC connector on the P3 as part of the project. Afterwards, my P3 was noticeably deaf. When I started to operate in the North American QSO party, I couldn't see any of the stations. I got out the manual and discovered that there was a switch to activate the IF Out connector. I moved the switch to Off and everything was good again. I moved it to on, and I only lost about 3dB, just like the manual said. Some experimentation showed that if the switch was between off and on, the loss was much greater, like 15dB or so. I must of pushed the switch when I was adding the lug. 73 Bill AE6JV ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Bill Frantz | When an old person dies, a | Periwinkle (408)356-8506 | library burns. - Joe McGawon | 16345 Englewood Ave www.pwpconsult.com | Irish Ethnographer | Los Gatos, CA 95032 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
I have similar experience, but by different cause.
My P3 sometimes went almost deaf. When that became frequently, I tried to make troubleshooting. First, I suspected K3’s IF out buffer amp, but finally I found that the IF interface (between K3 and P3) coaxial cable supplied by Elecraft was the cause. Either fitting between coaxial cable and BNC connector or BNC connector itself might be wrong. Replacing the cable with my home-made cable have completely solved the problem. 73 de JH3SIF, Keith > 2018/01/20 16:31、Bill Frantz <[hidden email]>のメール: > > JI'm posting just in case someone else has this problem. > > I added more bonding to my station and put a lug under the IF In BNC connector on the P3 as part of the project. That cable supplied with the early P3 was a known troublesome cable. Best
replaced. ----- Chuck, KE9UW -- Sent from: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/ ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email]
