My K2 F/S post had an unexpected outcome--numerous emails wishing me
well, from the many acquaintances I've made over the years. It was a very pleasant trip down memory lane. In no particular order, I just wanted share a few of me more memorable event: -- Discovering QRP and building my first QRP rig, an OHR-100 if I recall. Doing that brought back the thrill of Amateur Radio I experienced way back in high school. -- Building my first Elecraft K2. After building several kits I took the plunge and bought a K2 kit. When it arrived and I open the package--there was a brief moment that I was overwhelmed by the large number of parts to be assembled. But I collected myself and a week later that kit was done and on the air...the rest is history. -- And that history is: the building and repair of a hundred or more QRP rigs over the years for myself and others. I really enjoyed that. -- My review of the 1st gen. DSW-40 being published in QST. (Dec 2000) -- PSK-31. I loved building and operating my PSK-20. Even had a QSO with Skip Teller, KH6TY, father of digipan. (If anything ever draws me back to ham radio, it's likely to be PSK-31) -- ROCK-MITE MANIA! Seeing all those little guys built up so many different ways--I recall finishing one up during an ARS sprint and using it to make a Q or two. -- A somewhat melancholy event, listening to Radio Switzerland's last SW broadcast, October 30, 2004. <http://blogs.rnw.nl/medianetwork/swiss-radio-international-to-stop-broadcasting> -- Working the original Tuna Tin 2 operated by Ed Hare & Bruce Muscolino, W6TOY/3 from W1AW during the Black Cat Tuna 2 Event, 1999(?) -- Setting up portable in Wyoming so that Bruce Muscolino, W6TOY/3 could get a WY QSO that eluded him for many years. -- WAS for me, took a long time to get DE. For a while I was beginning to think DE didn't exist. :-) <http://qrp.kd4ab.org/2001/011214/0067.html> -- Earning my Extra with the 20wpm code requirement -- Milliwatt QSOs -- Meeting Arnie Corro at a CQC banquent -- Attending Pacificon and Atlanticon -- Being an Elvis for a Zombie Shuffle What a long strange trip it's been That was then, this is now, other activities beckon... -- 73 Rod Ai7NN CL dit-dit ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
