Totally OT: Wayne Burdick credit on music video

VE3GAM Allen McRorie
Hi Wayne

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK_z_-MK2uQ

just doing some surfing on Youtube and imagine my surprise when I see the
name
"Wayne Burdick" in the credits for a song by Lefty Frizzell.. I know that
this
is not you Wayne but wondering if it is one of your relatives?? Song was
recorded
in Los Angeles in 1958.

I was born in 1957 so this is unlikely. But I'm going to watch the video, just be sure.

Re: Totally OT: Wayne Burdick credit on music video

DL6OAP
In 1985, Wayne had a very special trip in a DeLorean DMC12 that had some very special aftermarket parts (one was called "fluxcapacitor"). He travelled back into 1955 and played the song on a guitar at a high school senior party, and his parents fell in love there. Lefty's cousin Martin called Lefty on a phone and told him that this could be the new sound he was looking for.

Three years later, Lefty recorded the song in Los Angeles.

Later, this story was turned into a Hollywood movie with Michael J. Fox ;-)

Re: Totally OT: Wayne Burdick credit on music video

VE3GAM Allen McRorie
found another video showing "Wayne Burdick" playing steel guitar
for Tex Williams, if I can find link again, I will post it for you Wayne

I think he was a prominent steel guitar player back at that time, info
on him was being asked for on a steel guitar forum, that I found
through Google

My mom is still around, so I'll see if she recall this episode :)

I do play guitar, by the way. When I get burned out on design work I write
and record songs….
