Hi all,
OK, I am confused :-) I have built the K60XV and it is running. I just finished the main build of the 2m Elecraft transverter. I have got to page 60 in the transverter alignment. I have the control cable done and the transverter switches on when I select the band. I have connected a cable between the K60XV and the transverter. Now the manual on page 60 states to set the rig at 5 watts. However, I have the K60XV set to the low output line. Do I need to connect it to the main output of the K2 and set it to the high output line or can I use the low power line from the K60XV? I hope you can make something of that lot, I told you I was confused :-) Ian -- Ian Maude G0VGS Morecambe Lancs UK | [hidden email] Sysop of GB7MBC, the Morecambe Bay Cluster Running Linux and DXSpider | K2 #4044 Find out about Summits on the Air! Hello Ian:
It's not your fault! The K60XV was added to the Elecraft lineup after the transverters. At that time a K2 would always have been set for 5 watts out to produce 20 watts on 144 mHz. Use the K2 power setting that should correspond to 20 watts. Of course, you must also have the transverter connected to the low-level RF output at the K2, and not to the Antenna BNC as shown in the diagrams in the section, "Connecting the Transverter to your Elecraft K2 Transceiver" The transverter manual needs a few updates, obviously. Thanks for catching that! Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- Hi all, OK, I am confused :-) I have built the K60XV and it is running. I just finished the main build of the 2m Elecraft transverter. What connections should be made and what settings should I use? The low level interface does not display 5 watts of course. > The transverter manual needs a few updates, obviously. A note for anyone following this thread to see the answers, I responded to
Ian off the reflector because of the length of the answer and because I'm still double-checking the information. The K60XV allows split receive and transmit I.F. connections between the transverter and the K2. This configuration is not shown in the transverter manual. Also, the K60XV offers a low-level RF output from the K2 for driving the transverter, and that is not reflected in the transverter manual either. An updated transverter manual will be released ASAP to include these options. As soon as we've verified the proper jumper settings, etc., I'll publish a note here. In the meantime, drop me an e-mail if you are currently trying to figure out the same puzzle Ian has right now. If not, please hang on and we'll get the right scoop published ASAP. Ron, I would really like to see this info too. I have just completed an XV144 which works very well with the low level transverter output from a TS430s. I am also just about to complete an XV50 in the next few days. Shortly, I will be starting my K2 kit and when this is finished, will be looking to connect it via the K60XV.
