Hello,
I am running into some trouble with the K3 after playing around with the unit (macro, settigs etc.) After a while I recognized, that the K3 does not transmit - no output in CW nor in SSB - even PTT does work. Tuning with the "TUNE-Button" works and give the adjusted output power. Seems that maybe I have misconfigured a parameter - but doesn't find it. Any idea from the readers of the refelctors - where I have to look for? Thanks -- 73 de Karl-Heinz - DL2FAG mailto:[hidden email] ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Lieber Karl-Heinz,
First thing to check: Make sure "TX" on right side of display isn't blinking. If it is, press and hold TEST. 73, Hank, W6SX On Wed, Apr 11, 2012 at 10:53 AM, Karl-Heinz - DL2FAG <[hidden email]>wrote: > Hello, > > I am running into some trouble with the K3 after playing around > with the unit (macro, settigs etc.) > After a while I recognized, that the K3 does not transmit - no output in > CW nor > in SSB - even PTT does work. > Tuning with the "TUNE-Button" works and give the adjusted output > power. > > Seems that maybe I have misconfigured a parameter - but doesn't find > it. > > Any idea from the readers of the refelctors - where I have to look > for? > > Thanks > > > -- > 73 de > Karl-Heinz - DL2FAG > mailto:[hidden email] > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hello,
the TX isn't blinking. Have done further test and recognized, that if I chooes the FM-Mode - the Power Output was ok. Seems be the K3 does not work in CW and SSB so far. As well the TUNE-button is working as well. Karl ============================= am Mittwoch, 11. Karl,
In the CONFIG menu, are FLTX SB and FLTX CW set to a 2.8 (or 2.7) kHz BW filter? 73 de Bob, K6XX On 4/11/2012 11:51 AM, Karl-Heinz - DL2FAG wrote: > Hello, > > the TX isn't blinking. When testing CW mode did you have the VOX on? If the answer is NO, try
setting the VOX to ON. Hi Elliott
Even with VOX or PTT the same result - no power output in SSB and CW. In Data Mode - if I push the microphone PTT - a diddle is produced and I have a power output. Karl am Mittwoch, 11. I just got my new K3 going this week. I had similar problems. I found using the K3 Utility was an easier, more organized way of defining your filters for the different modes. There are just too many options to perform the programming using Config: (My experience) Also, I ran into the “VOX” not on when CW did not work.

I have followed this thread today, and I haven't seen anyone ask, "Did you
check the POWER setting". I turned the power down, forgot and had no RF out. The ATU worked, and the digital mode, FSK D, tapping the key will produce 'didles' but no RF power. Perhaps you did some config or cal functions, turned down the power and forgot to turn it up again. Just a thought.... ...bill nr4c -----Original Message----- From: Karl-Heinz - DL2FAG [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2012 1:53 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] Troubel TX on K3 Hello, I am running into some trouble with the K3 after playing around with the unit (macro, settigs etc.) After a while I recognized, that the K3 does not transmit - no output in CW nor in SSB - even PTT does work. *Mike,
yes it works well, however he has only had the K3 for a week apparently and the EZ_K3 software has a more visual display off all your preferred settings such as AGC, filters as well as mic and comp settings etc. I use both as a matter of double checking in case I get too adventurous with my fingers which tend to totally disobey my brain...which also has a habit of wandering off course...:-( Being a dinosaur sometimes shows up some distinct disadvantages..sigh! 73's Gary * On 12 April 2012 09:26, Mike Harris <[hidden email]> wrote: > How about biting the bullet and doing a factory reset. Hello
the problem is solved - the problem has been raised not due to any configsetting and macros - it was my cat, which was walking behind the radio. And over her "cable-walk" she has removed parts of the cables between the different units. So after I replaced and secured all cable again - everything is working well again. So finally I put up a "Cat-Stop-note" at the shack-table, hihi Thanks everybody for their hints... 73 Karl DL2FAG am Mittwoch, 11. Yes, cats seem to like walking behind Elecraft gear - so many cables to play with!
Mine even managed to pull the power cord off the KPA500 during a QSO... But maybe it was not fully plugged in (mitigating circumstances for the cat!) 73 Richard - HB9ANM

I had a cat who would bite telepne cables and computer mouse cables in
two if she felt you weren't giving her proper attention. Beware! At an army radar tracking installation, we invited in a stray cat
because mice were continually eating through cables, nesting in tape drive bays, zapping themselves, and of course causing (smelly!) problems for us afterward. The cat must have been well fed with the mice because it never contributed to the chewed cables. :-) 73, Mike ab3ap On 04/12/2012 04:56 PM, Ron D'Eau Claire wrote: > In commercial installations where much of the equipment is racked we'd > occasionally find a dead cat or rat hanging on a cable or on the floor > underneath.
