Trying to install JT65 on my K3S but can’t get it to work...

I’m trying to install JT65 on my K3S but can’t get it to work with my radio.

Elecraft K3S on JT65/JT9 – Setting Up & Using

My radio is a Elecraft K3S SN 10577
K3S firmware is 05.38

My computer is a Lenovo T230 i5 laptop
OS is Windows 7 Professional

I downloaded the latest revision of JT65 1.7.0, then followed the above mentioned procedure and even before I put in all the parameters I got the error message:

 Rig Control Error.  

Details: Hamlib error: IO error while opening connection to rig


• I tried deleting and re-installing JT65
• Scanned my Lenovo T230 i5 laptop for viruses
• Changed the USB cable between the K3s and laptop
• Checked all the K3s Configuration default parameters
• I went thru the procedure several times but each time ended up with the same resjult

It appears that the software and the K3S are not communicating properly.

Would appreciate any suggestions.
