μ-Tune equivalent for the K3?

Bruce Prior-2

Norm Fusaro W3IZ wrote a candid and most helpful review of the Yaesu FT-2000D HF and 6 m transceiver in the October 2007 issue of QST.  After some rather hard-hitting comments about some problems with the new transceiver, he praises the optional μ-Tune units, which "are hi-Q motorized preselector circuits designed to enhance weak signal operating." (p.70)  I'm wondering whether the optional KAT3, as an impedance-matching device, will serve in practice as a practical substitute for a high-Q preselector.  If not, perhaps a similar auto-tracking external preselector might be a popular K3 accessory.
