Tuning Knob for K1 (K2)

Tom McCulloch
As a follow up to Jim's post (and that of quite a few other guys on this list), I was wondering if the guys at Elecraft might someday take the hint and realize that they have a 'great' rig with what a lot of their customers consider to be an 'adequate' tuning knob and offer an upgrade option.

Elecraft has a justifiably great reputation for listening to its users and their customer service is top notch.  So why the deaf ear here?

As an aside, Ten-Tec does just that with their Jupiter 538 rig.  The 538
comes with so-so knobs, but TT offers an upgrade set for those who want
to buy them.  So there's a precedent...and rubber bands in the meantime.

Rubber bands sound good to me - being that I am cheap.  A good source of
some custom rubber bands is a bicycle intertube.  Pick a size tube and
just cut a section to meet your needs.  I have used them to close HT
battery packs that have been rebuilt.  You can adjust the strength by
changing the width of the section you cut.  I can see cutting one about
as wide as the knob is deep.

Some time I will tell of the joys of garbage eve.

They also qualify you for the Low-Tech Award!

You'll understand why I was thrilled one day when I went to the local
supermarket and found a gazillion asparagus rubber bands at the salad bar.
I got quite a few...as not only are they great for knobs....but by not having
to buy the asparagus to get them....I qualified for the Dumpster Diver Club.
