Turkey Point Lighthouse Activation: Did you work me?

Edward R. Breneiser-2

Hello all,

Did you work me? I sure hope so! Ron, WB3AAL, and myself, WA3WSJ, had a
ball activating Turkey Point Lighthouse on Saturday, July 23rd. We
worked many stations and I had some fine and long QSOs. The weather was
hot and the black flies were biting, but the Qs were just great! If you
look in the Summer Issue of the ARLHS Newsletter, you will know why we
like to activate the " Ladies Lamp."  http://www.arlhs.com
If you would like to see some pictures of this activation, just click on
the link below.

Again I had the pleasure of meeting Joan Russell at the light and I gave
her a copy of the ARLHS newsletter. She seemed impressed by the article
from our leader Jim, K2JXW, I hope I have his call correct. I should
know it by now because I worked him a few times on Saturday. If you want
more information about the light, the Turkey Point Light Station has a
website to view. This organization is a non-profit with  around 250
members.  http://www.tpls.org

Here's a dibit of information most miss while at this light: Buy a
Turkey Point Lighthouse Soda. This soda is the old fashioned stuff. I
drank a black cherry and a vanilla cream and man they are goooood! One
word of caution - they're loaded with sugar and carbs! I looked on the
label and saw this: Carbs: 44g; Sugars: 44g. One good thing, they only
have 180 calories per bottle, but the taste is just fantastic!

Well, that was my day on Saturday. The view from the 100' cliff
overlooking the Northern Chesapeake Bay is just gorgeous. If you worked
WA3WSJ at Turkey Point Lighthouse and want a photo collage of the
lighthouse, please send a qsl card to WA3WSJ and put "Turkey Point" on
the card somewhere. No need for a SASE. The collage is 8.5" x 11" and
has around nine pictures of the lighthouse on it and is suitable for
framing.

72/73,
Ed, WA3WSJ
