I'm feeling dumber than a rock here, but in following instructions on
alignment of filters using spectrogram I am trying to find how to turn off AFIL (and/or SSB?) so that alignment is accurate... What is the order in the menu for turning it/them off? Can someone please tell me each step of doing this? I'm having trouble finding it in the manuals... Thanks in advance, and please respond off list if you could. I have a K2 with external 100 watt amp & tuner, SSB, etc... If you have no KAF2 or KDSP2, then it is automatically OFF> If you have a KAF2, step through the filter settings using the AFIL key until it says OFF. If you have a KDSP2, either select LPASS (suing the AFIL button if your KDSP2 is still on factory defaults) or simply set the KDSP2 to bypass mode. The steps to do this are in the KDSP2 manual. 73, Lyle KK7P _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Mike,
Please clarify why one would want to turn off SSB when doing filter alignment. It is normal to align the SSB filters as well as the CW filters when doing a complete job. If you have the KAF2 installed, you may want to turn off the low pass filter so it will not roll off the high frequency end of the SSB filter, but it will have no effect on the CW filters. With the KAT2 installed, you would want to activate AF1 and AF2 to position the peak of the audio filter at your sidetone pitch, and that peak is easily seen with the Spectrogram display - use Spetrogram to its best advantage when aligning your K2 filters whether they be the IF filters for CW and SSB or the audio filter of the KAF2. OTOH, the KDSP2 does need to be placed in bypass mode - refer to the KSDP2 manual for the procedure. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > I'm feeling dumber than a rock here, but in following instructions on > alignment of filters using spectrogram I am trying to find how to > turn off > AFIL (and/or SSB?) so that alignment is accurate...
