Sometimes, when I turn on the radio, SPLIT is engaged from last time I used a particular band - and I don't notice it for a while.
I seem to recall reading something about automatically disabling SPLIT on power up or power down, but can't find it. Is this reality or from a dream? And yes, I know about the Δf LED, but the radio is to my far left near a window and in the bright Colo sunshine, it's hard to see. Tnx, Barry W2UP |
Barry,
If you set CONFIG: SPLT SV to NO, split will be cancelled with a band change and also by a power cycle. There is no separate setting for power cycle only. 73, Don W3FPR On 9/25/2011 10:30 AM, Barry wrote: > Sometimes, when I turn on the radio, SPLIT is engaged from last time I used a > particular band - and I don't notice it for a while. > > I seem to recall reading something about automatically disabling SPLIT on > power up or power down, but can't find it. Barry,
SPLT SV =NO has a downside. If you're chasing a multiband DXpedition working split, setting it to NO will cancel split when you change bands. Thus you run the risk of NOT being is split while calling the DX if you're jumping about bands. Worst yet, the self appointed cops will start sending "LID" or worse. You can guess how I know this. 73 de Brian/K3KO On 9/25/2011 15:01, Don Wilhelm wrote: > Barry, > > If you set CONFIG: SPLT SV to NO, split will be cancelled with a band > change and also by a power cycle. Thanks guys. That's what I was looking for.
Brian, I'm not sure which is worse - getting yelled at by the pileup cops, or calling someone, wondering why you're not getting thru, then noticing split is ON from the last time the radio was on :.) 73, Barry W2UP |
Barry,
Good point, particularly if you missed out on a new one ! Bob K6UJ On Sep 25, 2011, at 8:44 AM, Barry wrote: > Thanks guys.
