FWIW, My K3 is connected to an iMac with a 2GHz Duo Core Intel. I am
using one of two different USB to Serial adapters I bought on eBay.
They were less than $10 each. Both use the Prolific USB drivers, and
they both work great with the latest Mac OS (10.5.6) and the latest K3
Utility software. I run MacLoggerDX, again, with no problems. I see
no reason to pay $40 unless there is something weird going on in your
shack.
