Another good source for USB --> Serial converters (and
computer stuff in general is

Good prices & fast shipping, although shipping
charges for some lower priced items can approach the
cost of the item itself (Yuck!).
I have one (by Sabrent, Newegg offers several of
theirs) from Newegg - works great.
Note: some laptops may not provide enough power to the
converters for the converter to operate properly.
Also, some keying programs may not work with a
converter.
