Unable to get mic working on K3

I recently built a K3 and have been using it in CW mode so far. When I tried testing it in voice mode, I was unable to get the ALC to show any movement at any mic gain level (as though the mic was not working). I am unable to test voice monitoring as well.
 
I am using the front panel mic connector and am using the MH2 microphone. Not sure if I am missing any configuration, bias, etc. I played around with the Mic.Sel in Menu, but still no success.
 
Any suggestion on what I might be missing?

Did you turn bias on? Do this by tapping the '1' button at the
"MAIN:MIC SEL" menu entry...

Sorry, make the '2' - '1' toggles between High and Low.
