United Microsystems BCD-14

ray.fallen
Hi...

Would like to hear from anybody using a Unified Microsystems BCD-14
Automatic
Band Decoder with a K3/KPA500.  If you are using the BCD-14 with a
DXEngineering
Remote Antenna Switch...so much the better.

To avoid list clutter, feel free to reply off-list.

Thanks!

Some of us might be interested in the comments, which we won't see if
the replies are off-list.

I bought two of these at Dayton to interface a K3 to a six position  coax
relay/switch.

Works fine. Two notes:

1. I've heard that chopping off an end of a VGA cable to go to the K3 may
not work, as some VGA cables are missing certain wires that are needed for
the  K3 interface. I was able to find a naked VGA connector to use with four
conductor plus shield wire.

2. I had hoped to mount the BCD-14 in a plastic project box,  4x2x1
roughly. But the board is about 2.25" x 2.5", so it won't fit in such  boxes.
Apparently it was intended for the larger, older style aluminum  miniboxes. Not
having one of those in stock, I used mounting tape to stick it to  the top
side of the coax relay switch.
