Unpacking a K3 Kit

AJSOENKE
K3 SN 000031 consists of a kit version K3 with  antenna tuner KAT3 with a
KPA3 and several filters.

1. When taking  delivery - first inspect shipping container for any obvious
damage.  SOP

2. Package contains a number of items - a shipping document,  approximately
300 packing peanuts and three boxes wrapped in bubble pack. On top  is the KPA3
loosely embedded in the styrofoam peanuts.
Underneath is a layer  of bubble wrap containing the K3 main box. At the
bottom is a flat box about 1  1/2 inch thick labeled K3 chassis set - don't
mistake it for the bottom of the  shipping box.

3. Prepare the kitchen table or other large work area to  open boxes. Get a
kitchen trash bag for the packing materials.

4.  Carefully cut the tape on the boxes. If you use a scissors to nick the
tape  it'll tear. If you use a knife don't go deeper than the cardboard there
are a  lot of plastic bags full of parts underneath. Books are in Main Box
for  assembly, and operation. Check rev letter and read all notices,
especially the  one about the firmware.

5. Be prepared for a lot of parts bags and take  inventory as you dig in.
Don't expect to get it all back in the box the way it  came. I think Elecraft
maybe spent a good part of the preparation time figuring  out how to get all
those parts tucked in so well.

6. In Chassis Set Box  there are a lot of cabinet parts with fine finishes,
be careful unwrapping  them.

7. Start reading and have fun!
