I was able to update to MCU 1.68, but the DSP update failed.
I am using Vista and the usb to serial adapter. Any thoughts? Thanks Al AD9P |

Hi Al,
Are you using the latest drivers from the Prolific site? I had a similar problem that I fixed with a driver refresh. I just updated with Utility version 1.1.1.28 and Vista Home Basic @ 4800 baud and it worked fine. I do have a problem with saving a configuration though. The utility crashes at the end when it tries to save the config file. A file is saved in the directory but I have not tried to upload it yet to test the integrity.

I have one more report of this as well. I'm on the road right now and won't
be home until Thursday. I'll dig into it ASAP when I get back. If the file has the CRC-32 line at the bottom, it's complete and should be OK for restore. I pass the file twice during restore, once to verify that it is complete (and hasn't been tampered with) and once again to actually update the radio. So it's safe to try to restore from the file. There's not much going on between writing that last line and writing the status line. Obviously I have some problem that I'll dig into. Would you elaborate on "The Utility crashes"? What symptoms did you observe? This is indeed a bug, and it's been fixed in a subsequent version of the K3
Utility that is still being tested by the Field Test team. We'll be releasing a new version in the near future that has this fixed (and some other goodies). The configuration file you saved is fine. The crash occurs when the K3 Utility trying to change the status line message to "configuration saved" after the config file has been closed. The code passed a resource identifier when a string was expected. If you examine the config file with an editor like Notepad, notice that the last line contains a CRC32 line. That's the end of the config file, if it's there, the file is intact. I apologize for the bug. It's embarrassing, but there's no data loss. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of K5LLF Sent: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 9:52 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Update failed I have the same problem saving the configuration.
