Uses for Programmable Function Keys

Ed G-2
Hi Folks,
Did a quick search for this, but didn't see anything.  Does anyone keep
a compilation of the various uses K3 owners have decided on for the two main
programmable keys - PF1 and PF2?  It might be interesting to see a list of
all the nice ideas users have come up with for programming those keys.

PF-1 = Front Mic
PF-2 = Rear Mic
Each sets different gain & microphone level. Both have bias on.

PF1    45W (to drive amplifier)
PF2   110W

I use DXLab's Commander rig control module for other macros.

I use PF1 (RIT) for SPKR/PH toggle, and PF2 (XIT) for Mic Sel (not a toggle).
It's easy to remember because SPKR=RX, MIC=TX.

YEs, I'm tired of not 'getting' it first push - did you use a macro for that, I haven't figured out how to toggle vox from a PF key yet.
PF2 for me is sphr+ph too

PF1 - SPKR + Phones / Phones only toggle
PF2 - CQ fast QSK (QRQ) toggle

I use M1 and M2 for CW memories and M3 & M4 for additional macros:

M3 tap for QRO (100W); M3 hold for QRP (5W)
M4 tap for DX split (+2 kHz)

I have M1-M4 programmed so that they do the same function for both TAP and HOLD.  That capability really helps me for the several functions I use often.

I knew when I ordered the K3 that I did not care for the alternate key operations but I did not realize that M1-M4 would be so useful to overcome the normal behaviour of other buttons.  I never touch either the BAND or MODE buttons (since I use the key pad for band selection).

Once I get the KPA-500 I will try to position it where I can use the BAND select buttons to simplify band selection even more.

I use PF1 for the SCANNOW macro, listed in the programmers reference
manual. It immediately starts scanning between the frequencies
displayed in VFOA and VFOB.

Note that even though PF1 and PF2 are "hold" buttons, by holding them
even a little longer than is necessary to activate them the "hold" is
transferred to the underlying SCAN macro key command. So a regular
hold on PF1 activates muted scanning (AF OFF) while a longer push on
PF1 will scan with AF ON.

I use PF2 to toggle CW QRQ.

M1 tap and hold are for quick access to AGC Threshold and AGC Slope
settings.

M2 for speaker on/off toggle. This has to be the most popular macro.
(Also have M2 Hold set for AF LIM, but I never use it.)

Drew
