Using K2 Serial Cable on K3

Tom KG3V
Can I use my K2 serial cable with a K3? We are getting ready for Field Day
and trying to figure out what we can sare among our stations.

I think so.  The K2 "serial connector" is *not* RS-232.  Only RXD, TXD,
and ground are.  The rest are internal signals at internal levels.  When
I built mine, I did just those three, and that should work OK for your
K3.  Possibly someone with more than my miniscule knowledge will weigh in.

Re: Using K2 Serial Cable on K3

Vic Rosenthal
You can use a cable built for connecting a K2 to a computer serial port on a K3.

You can NOT necessarily use a cable which works on a K3 with a K2. In particular, a
'standard serial cable' which has more pins connected than the ones Fred mentions can
seriously damage a K2.
