Is there a way to make the VFO A/B change modes? I know it keeps the
same mode per band... seems everything is "per band" if I read the manual correctly. Normally I keep VFO A on CW, and VFO B on SSB, on each band. Is there a way to do this without having to switch modes manually each time I swap VFO's? Like when I am on 7005 CW and go to VFO B, I'll be on 7185 CW, instead of LSB. Can this be done? Chris -
I don't think there is a way to do this. I have wanted to do the same thing, but so far, no luck, Perhaps one of the future firmware revisions will include this feature. Like you, I also prefer to have one VFO on CW and the other on SSB. Actually, it would be very helpful to be able to have the last mode used on a band, together with which VFO was active, be remembered too. I am not sure how much storage room is available for that sort of thing in the software. We're probably both a bit spoiled by the features on our Mark V's - Hi! Still, I do love the quietness of the Elecraft receiver. - Jim, KL7CC Chris Hurlbut wrote: >Is there a way to make the VFO A/B change modes? Agreed! If I could add only one item to the software, it would be that
separate modes could be stored with each VFO. This does come up from time to time on the reflector but it seems there may not be enough "room" left to be able to do this. Sure would be convenient. 73 es gud dxing -- Don N4HH ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Wiley" <[hidden email]> To: "Chris Hurlbut" <[hidden email]> Cc: <[hidden email]> Sent: Tuesday, May 02, 2006 12:01 AM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] VFO A/B modes? > Chris - > > I don't think there is a way to do this. Personally I'd throw together something in perl if I wanted this functionality, but that's the kinda geek I am. Not sure how to do this sort of thing on Windoze - maybe our favourite HRD author will chime in? Of course, this doesn't help much if you're in the field without your logging laptop. -- "Nosey" Nick Waterman, G7RZQ, K2 #5209. use Std::Disclaimer; [hidden email] Don't believe him, he just got up on the wrong side of the bed. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. No need to do this on a PC ... a PIC / TinyAT / etc. 8 pin microcontroller could easily be tied to the ATU/K2IO/etc header on the control board where it could sniff for band changes, mode changes, etc. and send back appropriate commands to make little corrections. I've been meaning to do this forever -- first on my 706, and now on my K2 -- for auto-adjusting the VFO for CW vs sideband (like the Yaesu rigs do). A 'top of head thought'. I wonder if some added logic / control circuitry
could do the trick, overriding the existing firmware when 'split mode' is required? 73 Geoff GM4ESD Don N4HH wrote on Tuesday, May 02, 2006 1:33 PM > Agreed!
