Good day Elecraft gang:
I have just completed my K3/100 and am preparing for the IARU contest this weekend. I want to know if it is possible to operate 'SPLIT' in such a way that the B VFO freq is locked as XMIT freq and be able to listen around with A VFO without changing the XMIT freq of VFO B. Looking forward to some advice - - - I do not have a sub RX 73 Vidi - ZS1EL ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Yep you can do that just fine... Here is how I'd do that...
1. Get on your Freq with VFO A 2. Hold the Rate button in order to activate the lock feature 3. Press 1 or A/B to move this to the VFO B area (while still locked) 3a. Note that turning the VFO B knob does not adjust the VFO B freq 4. Hold 3 to activate the split feature. You'll note that the arrows near the TX indicator will change to point down telling you that you're going to be TXing on the VFO B Freq. You should note that if you have a mode flashing along with the arrow you're in a cross mode split. This means that VFO A and B are in two different modes. If you have this issue the fastest way to correct things is to press A/B then press A->B twice quickly. This puts the VFO B (TX Freq and mode) back into VFO A then on the first press of A->B you'll send the same freq to VFO B the second press will display "A->B ALL" which means that the mode and filter settings and what not have been transferred as well. Now press A/B again to put your locked TX freq in B again. 5. Ok now you can adjust your RX freq with the VFO A knob and you'll notice that as soon as you move the two VFO's off freq with one another that your deltaF light (amber light next to the TX light) illuminates. If you have any further questions or if I've confused you with the A->B information please feel free to inquire further. ~Brett (KC7OTG) On Wed, 2009-07-08 at 10:58 +0200, vidi wrote: > Good day Elecraft gang: > > I have just completed my K3/100 and am preparing for the IARU contest this weekend. I should also state another good quick way to just lock VFO B is to hold
1 to activate B SET mode. Your VFO A display will now say "b SEt". Now you can hold the RATE button to activate the LOCK feature. Because you're in 'b SEt' mode this LOCK will act upon the VFO B area. Tap A/B or hold B SET again to return to normal operation. ~Brett (KC7OTG) On Wed, 2009-07-08 at 10:58 +0200, vidi wrote: > Good day Elecraft gang: > > I have just completed my K3/100 and am preparing for the IARU contest this weekend.
