As much as I grow fatigued with some of the whining for features on this reflector, I'm going to whine myself.
Although neither of my W2s has arrived yet, the mere thought of the Elves producing a high-power sensor for VHF (2kw) just about makes me foam at the mouth. That would allow me to get rid of an inferior competitor's product, and for even more wonderful Elecraft products to be in my eyeline as I scan my hovel of a shack. Plus, it fills a hole in the W2's symmetry of sensors, or possibly sensor "chi." Is this in the future plans? Slobbering, Eric WD6DBM "If Elecraft Makes It, I've Built It" P.S. I installed a KDVR in my K3 for CQWW--How is it possible that I love my K3 even more than before? ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I don't have any 2m amps that produce < 200w and the 432 produces 150. Need a QRO sensor for 2m/70cm, since those amps are in the dreams of my shack acquisitions... Hello ALL ,
I also would like a high-power sensor for VHF (2kw). I have one W2 on order and would order another if there was a high power vhf sensor available . 73 all Ken K5DNL ----------------------------------------------------------- --- On Thu, 10/29/09, eric norris <[hidden email]> wrote: > From: eric norris <[hidden email]> > Subject: [Elecraft] W2 high-power VHF sensor? > To: [hidden email] > Date: Thursday, October 29, 2009, 7:54 PM > As much as I grow fatigued with some > of the whining for features on this reflector, I'm going to > whine myself. > > Although neither of my W2s has arrived yet, the mere > thought of the Elves producing a high-power sensor for VHF > (2kw) just about makes me foam at the mouth. I agree - we will just have to wait - or modify the 200W sensors in some way - I think the limitation is the coupler termination, getting up to 400W (UK limit) might be possible.
Perhaps in the interim, when it arrives, I will put the meter on the radio side - after all an amplifier has fixed gain, within limits and not over driving the imput is as important as not overdriving the output. My W2 is on order since Dayton, I have not heard it is ready yet and I have not decided on the sensor yet but as I have an LP100 I have no need of another HF sensor. Elecraft - how about producing a sensor without the coupler - so we can develop our own. I am sure you don't want to make one for each and every application e.g. 23cms or 500kHz. Mike |
